RE: Itasca Navion IQ 24DL
Yes, the cab chairs swivel. However, I do not know if they are adjustable. I somehow doubt it. It's a nifty rig. You should go see one in person to appreciate just how nice it is.
RE: Never Say Never..
That is wonderful news! I checked in just to see what the vet said, and just about have tears in my eyes. Good for you, for taking this little soul in. He'll always be so precious to you.
RE: Rubber trim won't stay in track
You can also put a screw in right in the curve. Our 07 Itasca Spirit had this problem, and the 08 model had a screw there. That should work.
RE: FLEETWOOD PULSE
Either way, I think you'll be happy with the Sprinter 3500 chassis. For just the two of us, and our three cats, the Navion 24H is the perfect size. As for which to choose, follow your heart, IMHO. When you step inside, does it feel like a place you want to be? I'm not sure there's a dramatic difference in quality, though I think Fleetwood went a little higher-end on their coutnertops. It really depends on what you like. If price makes any difference, the Fleetwoods cost a few K more.
RE: Coach House Platinum 11 Sprinter Chassis
Ditto on the Navion. We've averaged 15-16 mpg in our Navion. The Coach House is probably just as heavy, if not heavier. It does appear more aerodynamic than a Navion, lacking the cabover. Then again, it's similar to the LTV Freedom II Serenity, which gets about 17 mpg actual mileage, according to the salesman who drove one from Louisville to Xenia, Ohio. So I'd expect only slightly better mileage than a standard Navion if you go with a Coach House.
RE: Did you factory order or buy off the dealer's lot?
Off the lot. If we would have ordered we would have gotten the next model year which we didn't want.
Same with us. We were going to order, but waited too long. Floor cover and fabrics were changing, and we definitely wanted one of the 2008 fabrics and the 2008 floor covering. Ours has everything we want, but we would have left off the awning and ultra leather cab seats if we ordered. Cats and leather don't mix. :)
RE: Navion/View: Can you ignore the slide??
It's a trade off. The newer ones are about a foot longer, and have higher weight capacities. The V6 tubodeisel is more powerful, and quieter, than the I5. The I5 gets a little better mileage.
RE: Navion/View: Can you ignore the slide??
OBTW
Have you looked at the Navion iQ? If you don't like slides it might be more up your line.
Only to drool. :W
Lewis RV in Dayton is listing a Navion iQ CL at 69,900. It is one of the prototypes.
RE: Sprinter based motor homes
The ccc on an H is 830 lbs with three-154 pound passengers so if it is just two of you you will most certainly have 900 pounds of storage which should be more than enough for anyone but a rock collector.
Before there was Robin Williams there was Lucy and Desi:
The Long, Long Trailer
You'll have to watch it to understand why I bring it up now....
Ken ;)
That was the first thing I thought of, too, Ken. Good one!
RE: Sprinter based motor homes
Amen, Kitty. The H is perfect for us, or as perfect as we could find. But wouldn't suit someone else with different requirements.
RE: View or Navion
That rear storage is the big difference, with all that space under the queen bed. The hatch is kinda small for access to that area, though.
RE: View or Navion
Bumpy, the gas option has been removed on the 2009 models. For the genset now, you'd have to choose between LP and diesel. The diesel costs about 4k more, I believe. I'm told that the LP will hold out for about 24 hours continuous use if the genset is under full load. I'm not sure how long the diesel genset will run on a full tank of diesel. Of course, it feeds from the main fuel tank, which is just over 26 gallons.
You can probably get a View/Navion new in the mid 70s still. I've seen where some dealers are unloading 08s just below 70, but I don't know what options are on those units. They could be gas units, or units without gensets. If you really want a gas unit, you'd better be scouring the dealer lots for a leftover 08, because that was the only year it was offered.
I can't tell you what may or may not be offered by other motorhome manufacturers, but I've noticed over the last several months your preference for fiberglass roofs, so you'd need to go with the View/Navion for that. I don't think any of the other manufacturers of Sprinter based Cs are offering fiberglass roofs.
To my ear, btw, the LP genset is slightly quieter than the gas genset we had on our Sprinter. And as I posted above, the turbo diesel is much quiter than the Ford V10, probably because it produces so much torque at lower RPMs.
If you are really interested, I hope you'll get out to a dealer and crawl all over a View/Navion. I'm sure even if you decide it's not for you, you'll still be impressed with the quality and everything Winnebago manages to pack into these awsome little coaches. We love ours.
RE: View or Navion
things must have changed in the pricing then. as I recall, there was about a -$5,300 or so indication for the gas option. And as far as noise goes, yes I have ridden/driven in the mercedes units and although not as dreadful as a pickup, were a bit noiser than anything gas I have been in IMHO. If you thought that the gas cost more, did you miss the (-) in front of the $ value?
bumpy
Bumpy, we had a 2007 Itasca Spirit 31C on the Ford E450 chassis, with the V10. I can tell you that the turbodiesel is much quieter than that monster, has greater acceleration, and pulls the mountains better. Again, my choice on the cost, but we are much happier with this rig than the larger Spirit.

Cat_Lover
Do you pull a toad? I've been told to expect around 16 MPG not towing but don't know what to expect with the Saturn in tow.
We were not towing. I kept the speed to 60 mph. Ours is the 2008 Navion H, 3.0 turbodiesel, with LP generator. We were running the cab air conditioner, so that robbed us of a little fuel effeciency, of course. Hope that helps.
We know we paid more for our Navion. However, the mistake we made last year was taking the "better buy," our 2007 Itasca Spirit. We almost bought a Navion then, bought the Spirit, and regretted it ever since. Even though the Navion is a lot smaller, the ease of driving and more comfortable ride suit us. If you also are looking for that, then a Sprinter based class C is for you.
